How to Maintain Hydraulic Tunneling Jumbo?

Table of Contents

Hydraulic tunneling jumbo is an efficient underground drilling equipment that plays a very crucial role in the excavation and drilling of underground mine tunnels, railway and highway tunnels, hydraulic culverts, and other projects. For ensuring sustained and reliable operational effectiveness over time, regular maintenance is essential.

Daily inspection of hydraulic tunneling jumbos

Appearance inspection: before working every day, check whether the appearance of the drill jumbo is clean and undamaged, whether the connections of all components are firm, and whether there is any looseness.

Lubrication inspection: check each lubrication point regularly to ensure good lubrication. Timely replenish the parts with insufficient grease.

Hydraulic system inspection: check whether the hydraulic oil level is abnormal and whether there is oil leakage in the hydraulic pipeline. Keep the hydraulic oil clean to avoid pollution.

Electrical system inspection: check for any damage to the insulation on cables and wires and for loose plugs.

Rock drill inspection: check whether the hammer, bit, cutter pick and other parts of the rock drill are proper and whether they are worn or damaged.

Maintenance of hydraulic tunneling jumbo

  • Always keep the external surface of hydraulic tunneling jumbo clean.
  • When hydraulic tunneling jumbo is working, it should always check whether the parts are loose and fall off and whether there are oil, gas, and electricity leaks. Problems found should be dealt with in time.
  • Make sure that the hydraulic oil is clean and the oil is sufficient. When changing the oil, clean all the systems, including the oil tank and filter. When adding new oil, it must be filtered, and must not make the new oil mix with the old oil. Clean once a quarter, and be careful not to mix different grades of oil.
  • After the new drill jumbo is used, oil should be changed once to remove the metal shavings and other sundries remaining in the oil cylind erafter 50 hours of operation. After that, oil should be changed once every 500 hours of operation.
  • When drill jumbo runs for more than 3000 hours, all hydraulic components should be disassembled and inspected. If there is any abnormality in drill jumbo, it should be dealt with at any time.
  • Take care of oil pipes, joints, and cables to prevent them from being touched, pressed, squeezed, or dragged, and replace them quickly once they are found to be damaged.
  • Operating temperature range of the oil pump in the drill jumbo is 25~55°C. If it is too low, the starting efficiency will be low. If it is too high, service life of oil will be shortened. It is measured that when the oil temperature rises above 80℃, service life of oil will be shortened by half.

Daily maintenance of hydraulic tunneling jumbos can reduce the failure rate of equipment to a certain extent and prolong its service life. In addition, the following matters also need to be paid attention to protect the personal safety of operators.

Precautions for hydraulic tunneling jumbo

1. Operators must undergo professional training, be familiar with the structure and performance of the drill jumbo, and strictly abide by the operating procedures.

2. Before commencing operations, it is imperative to perform a preliminary check to ascertain the functionality of all constituents before commencement of work.

3. During operation, you should pay attention to observe whether the indications of each instrument are proper. If any abnormality is found, stop the machine immediately for inspection.

4. Throughout the procedure, the operator should pay attention to safety to avoid accidents. Particularly during replacements or repairs of components, it is imperative that the power source is disconnected and appropriate safeguards are adopted.

5. During utilization, operators must assign paramount importance to safeguarding the apparatus to mitigate excessive degradation or harm. Any components detected as compromised or depleted need to be promptly substituted or rectified.

6. During shutdown, the equipment should be placed in a dry, well-ventilated place to avoid direct sunlight on the surface of the equipment. At the same time, regularly clean dust and debris on the surface of the equipment to ensure that the equipment is clean.

7. When the maintenance and repair work is completed, the operator must test run to confirm that the equipment is normal before use.

8. Long-term non-use of equipment must be disassembled battery to prevent corrosion damage to equipment.

9. Wearing parts must be prepared in advance to prevent the lack of affecting the use of equipment efficiency and service life.

10. The utilization of machinery necessitates meticulous documentation regarding any associated issues or impediments to serve as a resource for subsequent applications and referencing purposes.

Through implementing these strategies and techniques, it’s feasible to sustainably preserve and restore the performance of our hydraulic tunneling jumbos, thereby extending their operational lifespan and enhancing efficiency, ultimately reducing upkeep expenses for the clientele to yield substantial financial and societal advantages. Essentially, regular upkeep is crucial for hydraulic tunneling jumbos to guarantee sustained, reliable functionality and optimal utility.
